There is no denying it. This recital season is certainly one that we will never forget!
But you know what they say, when life hands you lemons – make lemonade!
And that is certainly what we at Footprints Dance Centre have been striving to do for our Footprints Family with our Virtual Recital!
The hard work for our Footprints Family and the Virtual Recital is already complete… Our dancers learned their virtual recital routines through a digital platform. Then they performed and recorded their very own solo performance. And the parents did their part by mastering technology and submitting the videos to the studio.
So now, you might be wondering how to make the most of our upcoming Virtual Recital Weekend. Well don’t you worry, your pretty little head about it – we have got you covered!
5 Tips to Make the Most of Our Virtual Recital Celebration
Send the YouTube Link to Family with a Special E-Card or Handwritten Invitation
One of my favourite memories of my childhood recitals is having my family all come together and celebrate. With Social Distancing recommendations in place, we just have to get creative how we bring everyone together!
To keep it simple, you can easily forward the Virtual Recital YouTube Premiere link to family members and have everyone tune in at 1:00pm on Saturday June 20 together. Then maybe have the family on speaker phone, Zoom, or FaceTime as you watch the show together. You can create fun E-Cards at many websites online. Just do a quick Google search and you will have lots of options to choose from!
Want to level it up? Maybe you have an outdoor TV or projector capabilities… Could you invite the family over for a socially-distanced BBQ to watch and celebrate together?
Make it A Special Day with Special Treats!
Treats make everything better! Maybe you can spend the morning creating a little treats smorseges board with your dancer. Or, take the opportunity to support a local business and order some cupcakes from Two Guys and A Whisk or have pizza delivered from Woodstock Pizza. (Two of Miss Lainy’s local favourites!)
And of course, don’t forget to make a little lemonade the night before!
Dress Up & Dance Along for your Virtual Recital Celebration
Another opportunity to use those recital costumes! Take some time before the show to do your dancer’s hair and make up like you would before recital. This special bonding time is always so precious together. Then your dancer can dress up in their recital costume and dance along as the show progresses through.
Usually Mom and Dad dress a little fancy to come to recital too. And that little bit of extra effort will make your dancer feel oh so special on their big day!
Celebrate Your Dancer with a Timeless Tradition
A June without fresh cut recital flowers, is just not a June at all in my opinion!
The tradition of gifting flowers to dancers at a show is a timeless one. (Just check out this NYT’s article.) Take a quick visit to the Woodstock Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning to get a fresh bouquet from Floral Express. Or order something special from one of many local flower shops!
Be Sure to Pick Up Your Commemorative Season Medal from the Studio
We are so excited to be able to still provide our Year-End Medals for our dancers this season! Be sure to book your time slot during the week of June 22-27 to pick up your child’s medal. (Please note: Dancers who did not participate in our virtual recital are still welcome to come pick up their medal! The medals are to celebrate this year’s hard work!)
