Footprints Dance Centre prides ourselves in our family-like community. Once a month, our teachers lead their students through a themed activity that helps our students to bond, open their hearts, and grow together collectively.

This month’s Wingman Week activity was about setting our intentions/goals for the remainder of the dance season. With only 10 classes left together, teachers asked their dancers, “What do you want to accomplish in the next ten weeks?” Our dancers said things like:

I will remember my recital dance.
I will practice my recital dance at home once a week.
I will stretch at home once a week to increase my flexibility.
I want to get the right rhythm/timing for my drawback step
I want to perform my exam with as much performance as I do on stage.
I want to come to class with a great attitude each and every time.

This year our recital theme was “Spread Your Wings” inspired by the Little Mix song “Wings”. This song is all about spreading your wings and going after your dreams, so we decided to use butterfly cut outs to write our goals on and call them “butterfly wishes.” We gave each of our dancers a butterfly cut out and a markers and let them create. While they wrote out their goals and doodled sweet pictures to accompany them, we played the Recital theme song for them. When the song ended, the students shared their goals with their classmates

When all of the “Butterfly Wishes” had been created, we hung them proudly on the wall of the shoe room to share our goals with fellow dancers and dance families. It turned out to be an adorable display filled with goals, aspirations, and sweet wishes for the future. We love this special bonding time with our kiddos!
