We are a week into summer vacation and I can bet that your kids are already sitting around glued to the screen. Snapchatting their friends about how incredibly bored they are already! Well don’t let the screens rules your child’s summer vacation this year! Take some advice from our How To Make the Most of Summer blog post and be a tourist right here in Oxford County!

Growing up in Oxford County taught me a couple of important things about myself. I always thought this boring old farm country, noted for its Springbank Snow Countess, didn’t have a lot to offer me in terms of adventure and fun. I thought I was a big city girl living in this small town. But after moving out to the big city for university and moving back home I know that I am a small town girl through-and-through. Oxford County has so many wonderful things to offer that the big city just can’t have.

1) Oxford County Cheese Trial
Mmmmmmmmmm…. Is there anything more delicious than cheese? Did you know that Oxford County has it’s very own Cheese Trail that you can explore? Stops on this delicious trail through Oxford County include my most favourite pig-out-place in Ingersoll – Louie’s Pizza and Pasta as well as Woodstock’s very own Charles Dickens Pub offering up the most delicious Gunn’s Hill Poutine! If Gunn’s Hill Cheese is one of your personal Oxford County favourites, you can even tour their facility  and see how the cheese you love is brought to your table!

2) Visit the Woodstock Art Gallery
The Woodstock Art Gallery has so many cool up and coming adventures for you and the whole family to explore. Check out what is currently on exhibition  at the art gallery or sign up for a an adult art class or get the kids involved with camp!

3) Visit One-of-a-Kind Antique Mall
The One-of-a-Kind Antique Mall  is Canada’s largest antiques and collectibles market and who knew it was right here in Woodstock! The old factory building holds three floors worth of antiques and collectibles for you to discover. Take the kids and go on an adventure to find a treasure from your era of childhood. Or take your sweetie and take a looksey through all of the incredible antique furniture in the upper floors.

There is so much that Oxford County has to offer. Take some time to explore this incredibly county that we live in and don’t be afraid to share some photos with us too!

Bonus points if any of these destinations were on your summer bucket list!
