On Friday October 27 our Footprints Family made a mark in Footprints History! With the successful launch of our first Parents’ Night Out Event we were able to raise $500 for the Epilepsy Support Centre.

After working with students dealing with epileptic seizures over the past year, I am so grateful for the support and network that the Epilepsy Support Centre has provided for our dancers to help them in dealing with their epilepsy. Witnessing the first seizure in the dance studio last spring and seeing how our dancers and dance family rose to support and care for these students truly makes me proud of our little Footprints Family.

The ESC sent Rochelle Sorzano, Education Representative for our area, to our event to give a presentation to our dancers about what epilepsy is and how to help someone having a seizure. During her presentation Rochelle dispelled some of the myths we often hear about epilepsy. For example, you should never put anything in the mouth of someone having a seizure or try to restrain the person who is in seizure.

Thank you for a successful Halloween Bash in support of the ESC. From the students who changed class times to during the day so we could have our party in the evening (thank goodness for PA Days!), to our incredible staff, volunteers and assistants for making the night run smoothly and of course, all the awesome dancers who came out and partied the night away with us. It was for sure a start of something awesome.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this event such a success and continuing to support our dancers inside and out of the studio. Our ability to love and support our dancers and our community is truly what makes our Footprints Family so special.

Thank you to all the dancers who came out and supported our awesome night!
