January can be a month of new opportunities. With a new year upon us, it’s easy to see that a lot of us have New Year’s Resolutions on the mind. And with this new start right here and available to us, we are going to be high-kicking those goals into next week! We are super excited to be highlighting the importance of the Body & Mind Connection as our monthly intention for January.
Our monthly intentions are a way to shine a spotlight on the life lessons that dance provides. From creating special bonds between dancers and families, to gratefulness and a growth mindset – it’s our aim to highlight these life lessons to our dancers and dance families. After all, dance is not just about learning how to move your feet, but how to let your heart lead!
What does Body & Mind mean to FDC?
It’s no surprise that the Body & Mind Connection is an inherent aspect of dance training. The way that dancers work with their bodies to express ideas and translate expression can be breathtaking. But it takes a lot of hard work between the body and mind to make those things happen. The way that we speak to ourselves greatly determines our success on and off the dance floor. Keeping our minds working through doubt, fear and anxiety can push us to become the best dancers that we can be. Keeping our bodies and minds healthy is key to being an amazing dancer.
What’s the Plan?
Over the course of the month we will host a series of activities and events for all of our dancers.
- Our Adult Dancers can start their “get in shape” resolutions with three of our brand new Adult Courses beginning this winter – Total Barre Ballet Fitness or Beginner Tap or Stretch and Relax
- Intermediate and Senior Dancers are invited to the studio for a DIY Spa Day on Saturday January 18 from 3:00-5:00pm.
- During our Wingman Week dancers will have the opportunity to explore their strengths and weaknesses.
- Keep an eye on our social media accounts for some body & mind themed motivation Monday posts!
I can’t wait to see how focusing on the Body & Mind connection works for our dancers this month!
Dancingly Yours,
Miss Lainy
