On Friday November 25, Footprints Dance Centre’s Holiday Spirit Squad kicked off the festive spirit with their Nutty Nutcracker Production! Over 90 dancers between the ages of 5-17 participated to create this year’s spectacular show at the Movement Church in Woodstock, ON.

This year’s show featured 17 routines depicting the story of the timeless tale, The Nutcracker. In this rendition, the show features ballet, tap, jazz, musical theatre and acro. The show featured recital and competitive dancers performing alongside one another.

This performance marks the third annual production of The Nutty Nutcracker for Footprints Dance Centre. The inspiration for the first Nutcracker show came during the 2020-Covid-Pandemic and was put together as a video production. In 2021, the production marked the studio’s first return to the stage since the pandemic hit. And now this year, our dancers knocked it out of the park!

Each season the staff recreate the classic scenes of the Nutcracker, adding new props, new costumes and new choreography. This year we introduced the role of “Mother Ginger” as the “Candy Cane Queen” with a gigantic hoop skirt where the little candy cane dancers hid underneath to make their entrance.

Our dancers did an incredible job putting on this show!

We can’t wait to get started on next year’s production.
