Downtown Woodstock received a welcome surprise on Thursday August 11 with a visit from Footprints Dance Centre’s Summer Sass Squad. The studio performed at Museum Square as part of their annual Summer Sass program, which is dedicated to spreading joy and a love of dance through the community.
The program was put on pause in 2020 when, along with many other fixtures of the Woodstock community, it had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This performance season marks the dancers’ triumphant return to live events in the community.
The Summer Sass program includes recreational dancers aged 5-17. The dancers rehearse once a week between June and mid-July to learn their special themed routines. This year’s theme is Summer Fun. Routines range from flamboyant flamingos to magical mermaids.
The Summer Sass Squad performed at Cedarview Retirement Living in July and Langdon Retirement Villa in August.
