It’s crazy to believe that we are already in our last month of the dance season. It has been an absolute season to remember, but we are still here and we are still dancing!

As the lockdown continues, we will continue to keep our dance families up to date on our Recital Plans. One way or another – we will make it happen!

Monthly Intention – Flower Power

Each month of our dancing year will highlight one of those ‘life lessons’ that dance gives us. This month’s intention is Flower Power. Now that may seem like an odd theme to finish off the season. But if the Covid-19 Pandemic has taught us anything, it is that you must grow through what you go through. And my, oh my, we have been growing a lot this dance season! Throughout the month of May our dancers will experience a little bit of extra whimsy and fun as we Flower Power through our last few weeks together.

Online Opportunities

Throughout the month of May we will be hosting a whole bunch of Online Opportunities for our dancers to partake in. These Online Opportunities will have a small fee ($5.00-$20.00) to participate in, and all proceeds from these events will go directly to United Way for local Covid-19 relief. From baking with Miss Lainy, craft nights with Miss Kristen, and of course a Princess Party too!

Registration for Online Opportunities is available in your parent portal under the Online Opportunities tab.

Over this past year, our community has been faced with overwhelming challenges that have been felt by everyone. Some people who have never experienced issues might now dealing with concerns like social isolation, food security, and safe and reliable transportation to doctors’ appointments. And for some that already experience these hurdles, they are left dealing with navigating them in an even more challenging climate. United Way Oxford has been working with organizations across the County to help adapt current programs, and create new ones, in order to help assist people get the support they need, when they need it. By investing in over 30 COVID Relief Programs across our communities, options for support are now available to assist those that need it most. By coming together, we can continue to support those in our community that need us now more than ever.

Please join us in our efforts to support our community through United Way Oxford, and learn more about the work they’re doing by visiting https://unitedwayoxford.ca/covid-19/

Summer Camp

Registration for Summer Camp is now open in your parent portal. We are anticipating to be adhering to all of last summer’s safety protocols. Which means we will be limiting all camp registration to 8 participants per cohort. (Plan for the worst, and hope the best!) If a camp week is full online, please contact us to be added to the waitlist.

Absences:

Please continue to keep the studio informed with any absences your child may have. You can log these absences through your parent portal, or just email the studio to let us know. With the Covid-19 virus rampant throughout our region, we want to be sure that our dancers are staying safe and healthy!

Recital Update:

We thought we had a plan, but of course, Covid is just not having it with our plans right now! We all want a concrete plan, but as we all know, it can change in the matter of a second. So we have a couple plans laid out below to give us some kind of bow on this crazy, crazy year.

At this time the earliest we *could* be back in the studio would be May 20.

If we are back in-studio by May 20 (min 10 people in the building) we will go ahead with our filming schedule for May 25-31.

If we are not back in-studio by then, we have a back-up filming week booked for June 5-11. If we are able to have a gathering of 10 people inside or outside, we will adapt to make it work.

And if we are not allowed to gather in any capacity by then, we will have families film their own dancer and send it in to us like our “Lemonade” recital last year.

As we know many families have summer plans, and frankly, just need a break, so we will maintain our official end-date of June 5 for all recital classes.

Bonus: If we are online during our last week of classes (May 31-June 5) we will have a family viewing week where families can share the zoom call with friends/family and view their dancer’s last virtual class.
