March is always an exciting month at the dance studio! Recital routine choreography begins this month. Costumes begin to arrive! And the magic of showtime is certainly stirring in the air! Our Competition Team will be putting on the finishing touches on their competitive routines as they pull together to put on our first-ever virtual Showcase! There is certainly lots to keep us busy this month!

We are also excited to announce the theme of our ninth official recital this month. We will be giving out clues and hints on our social media throughout the month of March. We can’t wait to see if anyone figures it out this year!

Monthly Intention – Hope

Each month of our dancing year will highlight one of those ‘life lessons’ that dance gives us. This month’s intention is Hope. As we cross the one-year anniversary of the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic, we need hope more than anything right now. By providing opportunities to reflect on the past year, we hope to inspire our dancers with hope for the months ahead. Throughout the month of March our dancers will be exploring the message of hope through classroom discussions and our Wingman4Dance activities!

Summer Camp

Registration for Summer Camp will open on March 15, 2021 through your parent portal. We are anticipating to be adhering to all of last summer’s safety protocols. Which means we will be limiting all camp registration to 8 participants per cohort. (Plan for the worst, and hope the best!) So put the reminder in for March 15 to fight for your camp spot!

Absences

Please continue to keep the studio informed with any absences your child may have. You can log these absences through your parent portal, or just email the studio to let us know. With the Covid-19 virus rampant throughout our region, we want to be sure that our dancers are staying safe and healthy!

Mer-mazing Princess Lessons

We are excited to launch an exclusive four-week online dance class geared towards dancers ages 2-6 called Mer-Mazing Princess Lessons! And I bet you can you guess which princess we will be theming around for this session. She has two colourful underwater friends and longs to be part of your world!

This four-week online dance class is geared towards children ages 2-6 and will get your little one up and dancing. The princess lessons will introduce your little dancer to ballet, tap and acro dance skills through the magic of The Little Mermaid.

Classes will take place on Saturday mornings from 10:00-10:30am on Zoom from March 6-27. During our last lesson on Saturday February 27, we will be joined by the Mermaid Princess herself for a coronation celebration and dance party!

The four-week session is $50.00 (HST incl). Classes begin March 6, so register today through your parent portal!

Recital Update:

We would love to tell you that with absolute certainty HOW are recital will take place. Unfortunately, our crystal balls are not shining too bright right now. Therefore all of these recital plans will be closely monitored and we will confirm which option will be followed through with at a closer date. Depending on public health guidelines at the time of recital (June), we will create our recital through one of the following formats:

OPTION 1 –  Recorded Virtual Recital
All classes would perform their recital routine in the studio, recorded and edited by professionals. All videos would be compiled into a big recital video. The video would be released online behind a paywall (projected at $25/viewing link). There would be no audience allowed in the building during recording. Option to attend an outdoor viewing party at the Drive-In. The recording process would be dependent on being allowed a minimum of 10 people inside of our facility. Dancers will perform in masks and be socially distant as per their choreography. (This would be similar to our Nutty Nutcracker experience)

OPTION 2 – At Home Filming Virtual Recital
Each dancer would record them doing their dance individually. Videos would be sent into the studio to be compiled into a big recital. The video would be released online behind a paywall (projected at $25/viewing link). Option to attend an outdoor viewing party at the Drive-In. (This would be similar to our “Lemonade” 2020 recital)

OPTION 3 – Outdoor Virtual Recital
All classes would perform their recital routine at an outdoor venue. There would be a small audience permitted (no more than the immediate family allowed). There would be ticket fees to attend the event. The performance would be recorded and edited by professionals. All videos would be compiled into a big recital. The video would be available as a DVD or Blue-Ray (no live stream link). This option becomes heavily dependent on permits, weather kindness and expense to rent/build a stage, lighting/sound equipment, etc. There are many variables outside of our control in this situation. This event may appear as the “most like normal recital” but it also has the highest chance of being cancelled due to things outside of our control.

OPTION 4 – Zoom Showcase
The last week of classes invite all family members to join us on Zoom during their class. Dancers perform in their costumes. Family members can observe the entire class online. This option could also be combined with Options 1-3.
