With Thanksgiving weekend upon us, pumpkin spice lattes and apple orchards ready for the picking – October is the perfect time to start reflecting on what we are thankful and grateful for in our lives. This is why we decided GRATEFULNESS will be our monthly intention for October.

Our monthly intentions are a way to shine a spotlight on the life lessons that dance provides. From creating special bonds between dancers and families, to gratefulness and a growth mindset – it’s our aim to highlight these life lessons to our dancers and dance families. After all, dance is not just about learning how to move your feet, but how to let your heart lead!

What does GRATEFULNESS mean to FDC?

To us, gratefulness means appreciating the blessings (and blessings in disguise) that find us each and every day. It is so easy nowadays to be distracted by all of the negativity and fall into the “me, me, me” trap of life. We aim to inspire our dance family to look for the little smiles, the helping hands and the twinkle of laughter throughout their days.

As busy parents, its easy to forget that we have the opportunity to create special memories for our children each day. Cherish these moments running from school, to dance, to ball, and back home for a load of laundry. Find the little moments of silly or love with your child. Before you know it, they will be out on their own. It’s the little moments that they will remember.

FDC Is Grateful For…

First and foremost, we are grateful for our Footprints Family. The studio would be nothing without the incredible dancers, parents and staff that make each day at the studio feel so special. It is a continued pleasure to be able to reach so many children with the power of dance.

And of course, we are grateful for dance! Dance has been such an incredibly important part of my life growing up. It was my place to escape to when the homework was too much, or the friend drama was spiraling out of control, or when I just needed a place to be me. Dance has given me the opportunity to explore a passion and live the life that I have always dreamed. And now I get to share that passion with so many people! I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such amazing dancers and families.

What’s the GRATEFULNESS Plan?

Over the course of the month we will host a series of activities and events for all of our dancers inside and out of the studio.

  • Dancers can add their “grateful pumpkin” to our display in the lobby, telling us what they are grateful for.
  • We are excited for our Parent Appreciation and Observation Week coming up too!
  • Our staff have even created an “It’s Worth It” Jar in the staff room to drop off notes about the little smiles or silly moments in class.
  • Our Parents’ Night Out Halloween Bash Party is in support of the Epilepsy Support Centre. We are so incredibly thankful for this amazing organization and the support they have given our dancers with epilepsy.

I can’t wait to see what a big grateful heart our Footprints Family has over the course of the next month.

Dancingly Yours,

Miss Lainy
