January is the refresh, reboot and reactivate month. With a new year upon us, it’s easy to see that a lot of us have New Year’s Resolutions on the mind. And with this FRESH start right here and available to us, we are going to be high-kicking those goals into next week! We are super excited to be taking a FRESH start with our dancers as our monthly intention for January.

Our monthly intentions are a way to shine a spotlight on the life lessons that dance provides. From creating special bonds between dancers and families, to gratefulness and a growth mindset – it’s our aim to highlight these life lessons to our dancers and dance families. After all, dance is not just about learning how to move your feet, but how to let your heart lead!

What does FRESH mean to FDC?

The week between Christmas and New Years is a deep time of reflection for us at FDC. We go through the books, we go through our feedback reports and of course we take some inner time to ourselves as well. Looking back at all of the successes (and yes, failures) of 2018 gives us the perspective to make change (or keep rocking with awesome things!)  for the new year.

How is FDC keeping it FRESH?

With a New Year comes New Goals. This year  my friends at Confetti On the Dance Floor inspired me to create a #ConfettiFUN19in2019 list. This is a list of 19 FUN ideas to bring in to the studio throughout the year. There are some small fun ideas like creating a studio playlist to really big fun ideas (Studio sleepover anyone?!). You can check out our #ConfettiFUN19in2019 list over on our Instagram page!

And, of course, all of our teachers are super excited to be bringing some fresh new ideas to class. With new playlists, new lesson plans, and I’m sure a few new teaching outfits – our staff is ready to bring fun and fresh ideas into the studios for our kiddos!

What’s the FRESH Plan?

Over the course of the month we will host a series of activities and events for all of our dancers inside and out of the studio.

  • Our Adult Dancers can start their “get in shape” resolutions with two of our brand new Adult Courses – Total Barre Ballet Fitness or Beginner Tap!
  • Intermediate and Senior Dancers are invited to an evening of Fresh Eats at the studio on Saturday January 19 from 5:30-8:30pm. Dancers 11+ are invited to join us for an evening of quick, easy and healthy snack creation at the studio!
  • Tell us why you are excited to get back to dance with our “I Dance Because” Photo Contest! To be entered dancers need to write the phrase “I dance because” on a piece of paper, give us their reason and snap a picture! Send your photos to the studio e-mail, or post the photos on Facebook and/or Instagram and tag us to be entered into this amazing raffle and posted on the studio social media pages!
  • Looking to get a fresh perspective? Here are some of my favourite self-discovery books “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin, “Girl, Wash Your Face” by Rachel Hollis and “The Desire Map” by Danielle LaPorte.

I can’t wait to see what FRESH ideas each member of our Footprints Family has over the course of the next month.

Dancingly Yours,

Miss Lainy
