December can be a SUPER BUSY month. With all of the holiday parties, family gatherings and New Year’s Resolutions to be setting – it’s easy to get wrapped up in the stress of the holiday. (Pun intended). So for this month we thought it might be best to embrace the chaos of the holidays and aim to BELIEVE in the best for this time of the year.
Our monthly intentions are a way to shine a spotlight on the life lessons that dance provides. From creating special bonds between dancers and families, to gratefulness and a growth mindset – it’s our aim to highlight these life lessons to our dancers and dance families. After all, dance is not just about learning how to move your feet, but how to let your heart lead!
What does BELIEVE mean to FDC?
The holidays can be stressful. Arranging family gatherings, and getting to said family gatherings can also be stressful. So we want to make the studio a place of no-stress festive fun for our dance families this December!
Having the opportunity to meet and inspire so many kids in one of the most amazing things about the dance studio. Our teachers believe in each and every student to meet their fullest potential. And when those kiddos start to believe in themselves, it’s a game changer!
What makes FDC BELIEVE?
For belief to be made possible you have to have a little bit of hope, a little bit of excitement and a little bit of curiosity. At this time of the year, we aim to inspire hope, excitement and curiosity into our dancers with some of our holiday traditions!
Miss Lainy is a BIG believer in holiday traditions! (If you can’t tell by how many holiday traditions the studio has…)
Our Ornament tradition was started by Miss Lainy’s sister. Each year current dancers at the studio receive a FDC ornament for their tree at home. It’s pretty cool to see the collection of ornaments over the years of our dancers!
Our Tea of the Day tradition was a university-experience inspired tradition. Miss Lainy became known as the tea-drinker in her circle of friends and in first year purchased her first Tea of the Day advent calendar. Since then, it’s been a personal holiday tradition. It was three years ago, when Davids Tea accidentally sent her a calendar with a few teas missing – so to make it up, they sent her two! One stayed at home and one ended up at the studio. Now it’s a holiday tradition our Intermediate and Senior dancers look forward to each day at the studio!
And of course, it wouldn’t be the holidays at Footprints without Dash, our Elf on the Shelf! He gets up to some mischief sometimes, but our littlest dancers love finding him hiding around the lobby!
What’s the BELIEVE Plan?
Over the course of the month we will host a series of activities and events for all of our dancers inside and out of the studio.
- Watch out for our 12 Days of FDC Christmas social media challenge!
- Pick up your FDC Holiday Ornament throughout the month at the desk!
- Our Holiday Spirit Squad will be out and about performing at various retirement homes throughout the month
- Sign your 3-8 year old up for Nutcracker Dance Party on Saturday December 14. You can drop the kiddos off, and get caught up on that shopping or wrapping that needs to be done! Santa can only wrap so much on his own, you know!
- Take a sip from our Tea of the Day while you’re in the studio
- Enjoy the festive lights and decorations in our studio
- Join in on the fun during our last week of classes for 2019 with our Holiday Dress Up!
We can’t wait to see how our dancers BELIEVE this December!
