School’s out and summer is here! Although it is off-season for our dancers at this Woodstock dance studio, that’s no reason to become a couch potato over the summer. Summer is a great time to try out new activates, soak up some extra sun and perfect those awesome summer dance moves too! Summer for our kids and for their parents can be a little hectic. It can feel like all sense of routine and schedule goes out the window. And we all know what happens when the schedule goes out the window. Making those easier, more convenient, more fun (in the moment) choices start to happen more frequently. Nevertheless, it is important to make sure we are still taking care of ourselves and our bodies! Which is why I have put together three quick tips to make sure you are staying in your best summer dance shape.

1) Working Out Can Be FUN!

It’s hard to believe, but it’s true! If you are not the kind of person that’s going to wake up and be so stoked to run on a treadmill for an hour each morning- then stop trying to be that person! It’s never going to work for you if you wake up hating it every time. Instead try out something different. There are so many unique and fun types of workout classes available now. Try out a high-energy POUND fitness class at Natural Motion Health or slow it down and stretch it out in yoga!

2) Schedule It!

Yes, I know – that goes against the easy-going nature of summer time but if it’s written down in your planner or a reminder goes off on your phone you are so much more likely to do it. Take a little time on Sunday to see what the week is going to look like and see if you can pencil in one or two workout sessions just for you.

3) Know Yourself!

If you love to sleep in, don’t set yourself up for failure and think every morning you are going to get up early and start the sweat game. Instead try going after work or after dinner. Your workout schedule doesn’t have to look like it does on the latest Under Armor commercial. Do what makes the most sense for you and for your lifestyle.
