April is an exciting time at the dance studio! This April we will be finishing up recital routines, taking a well deserved week-off for Spring break and then absolutely crushing the last 7 weeks of our season together. It’s hard to believe that this crazy, crazy season is starting to approach the close. We are all still here, and we are all still loving dance and building up our community together.

Monthly Intention – Focus

Each month of our dancing year will highlight one of those ‘life lessons’ that dance gives us. This month’s intention is Focus. As we enter into the last chunk of our season and the third wave of the pandemic, it is easy to get dragged down and want to give up. By providing opportunities to reflect on the past weeks, we aim to inspire our dancers to focus on what they have learned this season and our upcoming Recital Celebration! Throughout the month of April our dancers will be exploring the theme of focus through classroom discussions and our Wingman4Dance activities!

Summer Camp

Registration for Summer Camp is now open in your parent portal. We are anticipating to be adhering to all of last summer’s safety protocols. Which means we will be limiting all camp registration to 8 participants per cohort. (Plan for the worst, and hope the best!) If a camp week is full online, please contact us to be added to the waitlist.

Absences:

Please continue to keep the studio informed with any absences your child may have. You can log these absences through your parent portal, or just email the studio to let us know. With the Covid-19 virus rampant throughout our region, we want to be sure that our dancers are staying safe and healthy!

Recital Update:

We are so excited to announce our plans to make our Recital Celebration happen!

Back in February we presented four different options to ensure a recital celebration of some kind. After plenty of feedback, and some trial and error, we are excited to announce that we are going to be moving forward with a Recorded Virtual Recital!

Our goal with our Recorded Virtual Recital is to make all of our dancers feel like they are the star of their very own dance-movie! After so much hard work, and back and forth in-person to online, we really want to celebrate our dancers perseverance and dedication with a recital experience unlike you have ever seen before.

To create our Movie-Star-like Recital we will be transforming one of our studios into a stage set complete with backdrops, stage lighting, décor and the whole bit! A professional film crew will be hired to record each class from multiple different angles and multiple takes. The film company will edit together all of these different takes into one complete routine. You can view how this process happens from our Amethyst competition team’s experience in this video!

This Recital option is dependent on being allowed a minimum of 10 people inside of our facility. Dancers will perform in masks and be socially distant as per their choreography.

The premiere of our Blame It on the Boogie Movie Star Recital will of course be subject to gathering restrictions and limitations. But we do have a few different viewing options to keep everyone’s comfort levels in mind up our sleeves! Right now we are hoping to have a Drive-In Premiere on Thursday June 17 after dark, and then release the video online behind a paywall to view from the comfort of your home on Friday June 18.

Our filming dates are currently booked in for May 25, 26, 27, 29 and 31. We will be sending out the full filming schedule with which classes are when, closer to May.

All confirmed recital information will be released with your May newsletter including all viewing option packages, ticket sales information, recital souvenirs, confirmed filming schedule, hairstyles for each routine, etc. (With guidelines changing so often, we don’t want to confuse anyone with constantly changing information.)
