The residents of Cedarview Retirement Home received a welcome surprise on Tuesday July 26 with a visit from Footprints Dance Centre. The studio performed at the retirement home as part of their annual Summer Sass program, which is dedicated to spreading joy and a love of dance through the community.
The program was put on pause in 2020 when, along with many other fixtures of the Woodstock community, it had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This performance marks the dancers’ triumphant return to live events in the community.
The Summer Sass program includes recreational dancers aged 5-17. The dancers rehearse once a week between June and mid-July to learn their special themed routines. This year’s theme is Summer Fun. Routines range from flamboyant flamingos to magical mermaids.
You can catch Footprints Dance Centre’s upcoming performance on Aug. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in Museum Square as part of Downtown Woodstock BIA’s Summer Market Series.
