Tulips (Ages 5-6)
The Tulip Dance Program was specially designed as a child-centered curriculum by our Artistic Director, Miss Lainy Zimmer. Our 45-minute classes will engage 5-6 year olds in age-appropriate activities incorporating our mascot- Tulip the dancing turtle, colourful props, engaging storybooks, dress-up costumes, exciting music and of course, age-appropriate dance!
Tulip, the dancing turtle, is the mascot for this fun and dynamic dance program. You will see Tulip dancing along with our 5-6 year old dancers in class and featured in our monthly colouring pages.
All dancers in our Tulip program have the opportunity to participate in our year-end show. By the end of the year your little dancer will grace the stage in an age-appropriate costume dazzling the audience with their cuteness and grace.
The Tulip Dance Program was designed with four core values in mind:
1) Socialization
The goal of the Tulips Dance Program is to support our little dancers as they learn and understand social skills like waiting their turn, respectfully sharing their ideas and bonding with their peers. In each dance genre your little dancer will have the opportunity to explore creative concepts with their peers, share their ideas and make friends!
2) Age-Appropriate Movement
Teaching age-appropriate movement for ages 5-6 is critically important to fostering a life-long love of dance. Little dancers in our Tulip Dance Program will be supported through their physical development through our age-appropriate skills checklist for each dance genre. In each dance genre your little dancer will be challenged in their body awareness, coordination, balance, strength, endurance, flexibility and fine and gross motor skills.
3) Literacy and Imagination
In our Tulip Dance Program, our dancers will be introduced to a new story or creative theme each month. Each story/theme is used in class as a jumping off point to explore movement, emotional concepts, and social well-being. Your child will be encouraged to explore the theme through problem solving, predictions and exploratory movement. Your 5-6 year old will expand their language and listening skills while interacting with their peers as they engage with the text.
4) And of course, FUN!
The enjoyment of dance is the reason we are all here! Footprints Dance Centre is a studio where the love of dance comes first and foremost. Our Tulip Dance Program will stimulate your 5-6 year old with monthly colouring pages, dress-up classes, creative stories, colourful props and lots of opportunities to shake their sillies out!

If your 5-6 year old loves princesses, twirling, and all things sparkley, then this is the perfect class for them! Our Twirling Tulips will explore the beautiful world of ballet in an age-appropriate and creative experience lead by our most experienced dance teachers. From plies, to tendus, your little dancer will be expanding their movement vocabulary and socializing with their peers in this fun and engaging class.
Dress Code:
Female: Basic Short Sleeve Bodysuit in Pink, Pull On Skirt in Pink, Stretch Canvas Ballet Shoe in Pink
Male: White T-shirt, Black Shorts, Stretch Canvas Ballet Shoe in Black
All of our Tulip Dancers have a required dress code that must be followed. We are happy to offer all dress code items in the studio for easy access and affordability.
Cost: The monthly fee for this class is $58.00 (HST incl). If your dancer registers in two 45 minute classes, their monthly fee would be $100.00 (HST incl). Contact us for more information regarding sibling discounts and multi-class discounts!

If your 5-6 year old loves to play on the jungle gym, is constantly upside-down or spinning around, then this is the perfect class for them! Our Tumblin’ Tulips will experience a unique and high-energy approach to the wonderful combination of jazz and gymnastics we call acro dance. Your little dancer will learn age-appropriate acro movements like table-top roll overs, log rolls, L-shaped hand stands and teddy bear stands from our most experienced dance teachers. Your 5-6 year old will develop their body awareness and coordination while building up their self-esteem and engaging with their peers in this exciting and dynamic class.

Female: Basic Short Sleeve Leotard in Pink, Black Dance Shorts, Bare Feet
Male: Fitted White T-Shirt, Black Shorts, Bare Feet

Tappin Tulips – Thursday 5:00-5:45pm
Little dancers in our Tappin’ Tulips class will love their fancy new tap shoes! Our Tappin’ Tulips will explore the exciting worlds of tap and jazz dance in an age-appropriate and creative experience lead by our most experienced dance teachers. From shuffles to leaping runs and hitchie-coos, your 5-6 year old dancer will be engaging their sense of musicality, rhythm and coordination while bonding with their peers in our creative classes. *Ear-plugs are recommend for at-home practice!

Female: Basic Short Sleeve Leotard in Pink, Black Dance Shorts, Easy-On Tap Shoe, Bare Feet
Male: Fitted White T-Shirt, Black Shorts, Black Lace Up Tap Shoes, Bare Feet

Little dancers in our Twisted Teacups class are the high-energy, never stop bouncing, Tigger types. If that sounds like your 5-6 year old, then this is the class for you! Our Twisted Tulips will explore the dynamic world of hip-hop dance in an age-appropriate and creative, exploratory class lead by our most experienced dance teachers. Your little dancer will develop their body awareness, coordination and swagger while building up their self-esteem and engaging with their peers in this stylistic class.
Dress Code:
Female/Male: FDC Hip-Hop Crew T-Shirt, Black Sweats/Leggings, Bare Feet
All of our Tulip Dancers have a required dress code that must be followed. We are happy to offer all dress code items in the studio for easy access and affordability.
