Junior (Ages 9-10)
Our Junior Dance Program supports children ages 9-10 to explore their love of dance and expand on the fundamentals of their chosen dance style. Your 9-10-year-old will be supported in their physical, cognitive and emotional development by our certified, adult dance instructors. Junior dancers will gain confidence, make new friends and have FUN!
Our Junior Dance classes are delivered with the commitment to our Footprints Dance Centre Curriculum Documents for each dance genre. Your 9-10-year-old will be challenged with dance steps, terminology, clever patternings and age-appropriate choreography.
All dancers in our Junior program have the opportunity to participate in our year-end show. By the end of the year, your dancer will grace the stage in an age-appropriate costume dazzling the audience with their energetic and dynamic dance moves.
Class Offerings
2023/24 Schedule: Classes run from the week of Sept 11, 2023 – June 1, 2024
Junior Ballet – Wednesday 6:30-7:15pm
Junior Ballet – Wednesday 7:15-8:00pm
From good toes and naughty toes to barre work and across-the-floor work, our Junior Ballet classes teach classical ballet technique to boys and girls of all abilities. Ballet lessons will teach your 9-10-year-old to move with grace, precision and strength.
Our ballet lessons follow our Footprints Dance Centre Curriculum Requirements influenced by the International Dance Acclaim syllabus. Dancers at the junior level are also eligible to be a part of our ballet exam program.
Dress Code:
Female: Classic Tank Bodysuit in Teal, Wrap Skirt in White, Footed Ballet Tights in Pink, Stretch Canvas Ballet Shoe in Pink
Male: Fitted White T-Shirt, Black Shorts, Stretch Canvas Ballet Shoe in Black
All of our Junior Dancers have a required dress code that must be followed. We are happy to offer all dress code items in the studio for easy access and affordability.

Junior Jazz – Tuesday 7:45-8:30pm
Our Junior Jazz classes are a perfect fit for 9-10-year-olds who have lots of energy, love to move quickly and enjoy a challenge! Jazz dance is a fast and upbeat style of dance that incorporates large jumps and turns. Jazz lessons will teach your 9-10-year-old to develop their control, strength and flexibility in an upbeat age-appropriate class.
Our jazz lessons follow our Footprints Dance Centre Curriculum Requirements influenced by the Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers syllabus created by Mr. Brian Foley. Dancers at the junior level are also eligible to a part of our jazz exam program.

If your 9-10-year-old has a mind for music, then our Junior Tap classes are a perfect fit! Dancers in our Junior Tap classes will be challenged with intricate foot movements to create exciting and percussive rhythm patterns with their feet. Tap lessons will teach your 9-10-year-old coordination, timing and rhythm in an upbeat age-appropriate class.
Our tap lessons follow our Footprints Dance Centre Curriculum Requirements influenced by the Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers syllabus created by Mr. Brian Foley. Dancers at the junior level are also eligible to a part of our tap exam program.

If your 9-10-year-old is constantly moving and grooving to Top 40 Hits or loves to learn Tik Tok dances, then hip-hop will be a perfect for them! Dancers in our Junior Hip-Hop class must have A LOT of energy and want to have A TON of fun! Our Junior Hip-Hop classes combine both dance and music into a fast-paced and energetic class to engage our dancers physically and socially. Your 9-10-year-old will have the opportunity to flex their style and swag in this cool and age-appropriate dance class.
Our hip-hop lessons follow our Footprints Dance Centre Curriculum Requirements influenced by the trends of today.

Junior Acro – Thursday 5:00-5:45pm
If your 9-10-year-old is constantly upside-down, used to do gymnastics or loves doing cartwheels in the backyard, then this is the perfect class for them! Our Junior Acro classes offer a unique and high-energy approach to the wonderful combination of jazz and gymnastics we call acro. In our Junior Acro classes, your 9-10-year-old will be introduced to acro movements like handstands, cartwheels, bridge falls, walk-overs and rolls. Your 9-10-year-old will develop their flexibility, strength and balance in this exciting and dynamic age-appropriate dance class.
Our acro lessons follow our Footprints Dance Centre Curriculum Requirements influenced by the Acro Dance Teachers Association.

Our Junior Lyrical classes are a perfect fit for 9-10-year-olds who love storytelling, drama and dance. Lyrical dance combines the best of ballet and jazz to create a breathtaking genre of its own. Lyrical lessons will teach your 9-10-year-old storytelling, balance, flexibility and grace.

If your 9-10-year-old loves drama class, knows all the words to Mamma Mia or won’t stop talking about Hamilton The Musical, then this is the perfect class for them! Our Musical Theatre classes will explore the magnificent world of Broadway dance. Your 9-10-year-old will explore different musicals each month in this fun, up-beat and age-appropriate dance class.
